Green Glitter Slime

Well we finally did it. We fed into the slime craze!

Green Glitter Slime

I have to be honest with you. It’s fun. And borderline relaxing. Kind of like the fidget spinner thing. The kids wanted them, they bought them, and I ended up sitting for hours watching Netflix spinning the fidget. It got so bad that I mastered spinning it on my nose while walking. Impressive, right?

Back to the slime. The slime is as satisfying. You canย poke holes in it, let it drop from hand to hand, make a ball to watch it ‘melt’ down. Mindless play for max satisfaction!

Now finding the right recipe is a challenge. I tried a few before I found a formula that I liked best. What I found while experimenting is that the more Borax you add, the more solid your slime will be. The less you use, the runnier. And yes, this recipe does call for Borax. The amount is minimal though, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 1/2 tsp Borax
  • 2 cups of lukewarm water
  • 1 bottle of clear glue (4 fl. oz or 118ml)
  • food coloring (optional)
  • glitter (optional)

In a bowl mix 1 1/2 cups of water with your glue. Add your food coloring and combine it well.

In a separate bowl mix 1/2 cup water with your borax. Stir until it’s fully dissolved. Once dissolved slowly add the borax mixture to your glue mixture.

You’ll notice that your mixture will start to gel and ball once you add the contents together. Using your hand, combine the mixture until it forms a loose ball. If you find that you have excess water, you can dump it out. Transfer your slime to the counter and add your glitter. You can put as little or as much as you want. Kneed the glitter into the slime, the more you play with it, the more it will loosen up and be pliable.

If you feel that your slime has become too solid, you can add more water to it. Be patient if you do this as your slime may break down before it starts to form again.

The key to having clear slime is clear glue!
