My Top Christmas Movie Picks for the Holidays

Now that the Christmas season has descended upon us and we’re all waist deep in tinsel and garland, what better time to talk Christmas movies! I’m a sucker for a good movie marathon and when holiday movies are involved, you’ll find me wrapped in a blanket in front of the fireplace searching out my faves.

Favorite Christmas Movies

So in no particular order, here are a few of my faves!

  • White Christmas (1954)

I’m not sure if it’s the cheesy graphics or the catchy show tunes, but this movie, set in a post war era, is a must watch. You’ll find yourself wondering if Bing’s eyes were truly that blue and vibrant!

  • The Family Stone (2005)

Never mind the incredible cast showcased in this movie, the underlying story is enough to put me in tears every year. You’ll be sure to hug the crap out of your momma after you watch this one.

  • A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)

You’ll find it hard not enjoy this classic. The kids insist upon watching this one numerous times throughout the season. With Charlie’s kind heart, it’s easy to see why.

  • The Holiday (2006)

Has anyone else ever day dreamed about escaping to the English country and answering the door to a Jude Law type character? Just me? Ok. Well if you haven’t then you may after you catch this movie!

  • Miracle on 34th Street (1994)

I grew up watching this version of Miracle on 34th street. Susan got it right when all she wanted for Christmas was that beautiful home at the end 😉

  • A Muppet’s Christmas Carol  (1992)

My absolute favourite version of a Christmas Carol! Have the Muppets done anything bad?

  • Love Actually (2003)

More of a non traditional Christmas Movie, it’s hard not to get caught up in the multiple storylines. I dare you not to belt out Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas” at the end!

  • Elf (2003)

A modern day classic in itself, this has to be the most quotable Christmas movie so far. “I just like to smile. Smiling’s my favorite.” It’ll rejuvenate your Christmas spirit with it’s feel good vibes.

  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)

Because, Chevy Chase & those moose cups.

  • It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

Another nostalgic classic. I’m a sucker for a good black and white and this one gives me all the feels. You’ll find yourself thinking of angels whenever a bell rings.

And lastly, but certainly not least, drumroll please….

  • Home Alone & Home Alone 2 (Yes I’m allowed to count them as one movie)

Home Alone made me wish upon all stars to one day own a home who’s staircase lined up with the front door. Because, who wouldn’t want to ride a sled down the stairs? And being lost in New York? I hardly see that as a bad thing, especially when there’s room service involved!

Now it’s your turn! What are some of your favorite Holiday movies? Do we share any of the same faves?!
