I love brownies. Well, baked goods in general if we’re being honest with each other. I tend to go Christmas baking crazy and bake up a storm of sweets & treats to bring to our various gatherings. There’s nothing like a couple dozen choices when looking at the baked goods tray, right?!
Why not pass the love of baking on to others this holiday season? That’s where these awesome fudge-y brownies in a jar come into play. You provide the dry ingredients, the instructions and in no time your neighbors, friends and family can have their own fresh baked brownies. My mouth is already watering.
These would also make a great teacher gift if you’re completely lost!
What you’ll need:
- 1 cup + 2 Tbsp Flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 quart canning jar
Mix your salt, baking powder & flour together. Pour into the jar carefully, and tap your jar down to settle it. I used the bottom of my wine glass to tamp it down a bit more. Now layer the remaining ingredients in, in the order shown above. Your chips or nuts should be the last thing to go in. Wipe the rim of your jar and place your lid on.
Now, you can decorate the top however you want. I used a piece of parchment, baker’s twine and some washi tape to make it festive. Add this cute tag and you’re ready to go (just click on the picture to download).
If you’re wanting to add a tag of your own include these instructions:
Add:
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 tsp vanilla
Combine your wet ingredients with your dry and mix until well combined. Bake in a 9×9 pan @ 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until your toothpick comes out clean. Let them cool for a few minutes and dive in to the goodness!
You could easily make different variations of the brownie if you’re looking for something different!
Some ideas are:
- Chocolate chips and walnuts (substitute the white chocolate for the same amount of walnuts)
- White chocolate chips and dried cranberries
- Chocolate chips and Skor bits
- 1/3 cup marshmallows, 1/3 cup chocolate chips & 1/2 cup walnuts for some Rocky Roadness!
Happy jar-ing!
This sounds real good, when I make it, before giving as gift, I will let you know if mine turned out okay.
Thanks so much for this recipe in full instructions.
What kind of flour do I need to use?
in recipe for consumer you forgot the 2 eggs as one of the additional items to put in….
These took me an hour to cook. Wondering if the temp is wrong.
You forgot ‘2 eggs’ in the recipe. It is on the tag.
